CPE Calls on Lagos State Government To Declare Assault on Teachers By Parents, A Serious Criminal Offence.
On Wednesday, 16th of October 2024, a disturbing video went viral on social media platforms. The video shows two individuals engaged in a heated scuffle in what appears to be a school classroom.
Allegedly, one of the pupil’s parents (Male) confronted a teacher (Female) about an issue, however, matters quickly escalated leading to the parent raising his hands to the teacher with students present in the classroom. The duo had to be separated by the school’s staff to avoid further damage.
Mrs Yinka Ogunde in her reaction to the viral video requested that the “parent who beat up the teacher in a school in Idimu area of Lagos state, should be fished out and handed over to the police”.
This clearly shows the vulnerability of teachers and students in schools, as cases similar to this have become common in our schools.
The Concerned Parents and Educators Initiative ‘CPE’ has decided to raise awareness of violence against teachers and calls on the Lagos State Government to take actions that could prevent the reoccurrence of such issues within the Education sector. The law should protect Teachers from assault!
